"The title of the complex piece by Anabel Vázquez fully addresses the duality of emotions that those who have emigrated must live with, in their bodies and in their minds. Visión Doble (2011) communicates the experience of how geographical displacements generate in them the sensation of being divided into two halves that do not make up a whole, of having a physical body that is a generator of memories, and that by being in frequent transit between two spaces ends up arousing the impression of being out of place (Márquez, Art around migration). The space of the room that we enter to experience this experience is dramatized with lyrical mastery: on one side, the wide map of Puerto Rico and, on the other, that of Massachusetts Bay, a state in whose capital, Boston, the artist has lived and worked for nearly twenty years... In the installation, Anabel Vázquez exposes the consequences of feeling fragmented, of experiencing a force of attraction that drags the emigrant —albeit symbolically— towards her place of origin, and from there; that of his residence, that his body is a storehouse of visions that reappear frequently and that he is there; in a field of uncertainty by feeling in an "inner non-place" (Márquez, Art around migration)..."
